Abstract
751,571. Making pipe fittings. HUET, A. Oct. 1, 1951 [Oct. 2, 1950], No. 22840/51. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). In a method of forming a branch connection on a tube a longitudinal slit A, B, Fig. 2, is made and the edges are raised to form a circular flanged opening b, Fig. 3, while the end is heated. The flange may be finally gauged by pressing between split dies c, Fig. 4, while a punch e is inserted into the opening. The branches may be made on straight tubes or on the inside or outside of the bend of return tubes and may be offset from the plane of symmetry.
