Abstract

758,124. Making tubes; brazing. CALUMET & HECLA, Inc. March 15, 1954, No. 7515/64. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). [Also in Group XXVIII] Metal strip 10 is passed between rollers 12, or dies, which form in the strip a channel 16 adjacent one edge in which is laid a strip 18 of brazing material. The margins of the strip are then flattened and bevelled at 15, 17 by rollers 14 to compress the brazing material 18 in the channel 16, Fig. 4. The strip is then bent into tube form with the flattened edges overlapping and heated so that the brazing material 18 melts and flows between contacting surfaces. Two or more channels for brazing material may be formed in the strip.
