751,092. Tobacco cutting. LEGG, Ltd., R., and SCHREIBER, P. Q. R. Nov. 10, 1954 [Nov. 10, 1953], No. 32535/54. Divided out of 751,014. Class 5 (1). In a rotary drum type of tobacco-cutting machine, uniform density, irrespective of the quantity of the tobacco passed between conveyers 4 and 6 to a mouthpiece 8, is obtained by allowing the top conveyer 6,and the top 28 of the mouthpiece to rise or fall. The top 28 rises or falls in an arc parallel to the drum with its lower surface remaining horizontal. The upper conveyer can move in an arc in a direction nearly parallel to the feed of the tobacco. The top 28 is under the influence of a pneumatic cylinder 82 and is guided by parallel links 34, 36 with pivots 38 and 40. The front roller 46 of the conveyer 6 is coupled to the top 28 of the mouthpiece 28. The rear roller 50 is journalled to levers 68 pivoted to the side frames.
