750,709. Continuous - casting machines. EISENWERKE GELSENKIRCHEN. AKT.- GES. Jan. 19, 1954 [Jan. 23, 1953], No. 1609/54. Class 83 (1). In means for feeding molten-metal to the mould cavity during the continuous - casting of solid or hollow workpieces, comprising a constantly-moving discharge device, the discharge opening, or openings, in the discharge device consist of an open-topped slot formed in the side-wall thereof. The molten metal is fed to the cavity between a chill mould 1, Fig. 1, and a core 2 by a rotating annular dischargedevice 4 formed with an open-topped slot 5 which may be of uniform width or of increasing width in the upward direction. The lower end of the slot is located above the base 6 of the device. Molten metal is supplied to the device from a tilting trough. In a modification, Fig. 4, the slot increases in width in stepped formation. In a further modification, Fig. 6, the discharge device is provided at the discharge slot with a slag-intercepting device in the form of a rooflike structure 7 or a siphonic-acting partition wall.
