Abstract

750,546. Hydraulic systems; tanks. MILLER FLUID POWER CO. April 5, 1954, No. 9883/54. Drawings to Specification. Classes 69 (1) and 69 (2). To prevent churning and aeration of the liquid in a hydraulic system which includes a tank, a baffle is provided which is spaced from the adjacent tank inlet end wall a distance of approximately a quarter of the diameter of the inlet, and the marginal edges of the baffle are this same distance from the side walls of the tank. The sytem may comprise two hydraulic tanks which are alternately connected one to a source of gaseous pressure and the other to exhaust, the liquid and gas inlets of both tanks being provided with baffles. Alternatively the system may have a single tank into which liquid is admitted through an inlet and associated baffle and from which liquid is withdrawn by a pump.
