Abstract

773,013. Aerating sewage. INDUSTRIKEMISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. June 16, 1955 [July 17, 1954], No. 17348/55. Class 111. Sewage in a cylindrical tank 1 is aerated by air pumped from a channel 13 to radial pipes 7 having openings 8, Fig. 2, arranged more closely towards the tank periphery so as to induce " cylindrical " rotation of the sewage. Two systems of pipes, 7a, 7b, Fig. 2, may be provided, the outer being fed at a higher pressure. The " cylindrical " rotation may be replaced by " spiral " rotation by feeding the sewage at 6 and withdrawing it at 12, Fig. 2, and providing quarter-size partition walls 21 at intervals along the tank. Liquid, preferably taken from the part of the tank where the pipe system is located, may be injected simultaneously with the air through the same or separate pipe systems.
