Abstract

750,169. Draught excluders. F. T. PRODUCTS, Ltd. July 2, 1954 [July 20, 1953], No. 20100/53. Class 20(3). A rubber or like draught excluder 31, Fig. 7, is secured to a member such as a panel 28 of an automobile door, by means of a plurality of fasteners each of which is formed from a single strip of metal and has its central portion bent to the shape of a snap-engaging U-stud 17, Fig. 1, and its two ends bent to form opposed inwardly directed hooks 13A, 14A, which engage the strip 31. The draught excluder 31 has an effective portion 32 and a rib 33 which is engaged by spaced fasteners, the studs of the latter entering apertures 34 in the panel 28. The limb 19 of the stud 17 is straight and the limb 20 is bent to form an elbow 21, the axis of the stud being oblique at an angle of 70‹-75‹ to the axis of the base 18 so as to clear the portion 35 of inner panel 29. Each limb 19, 20 has sloping shoulders such as 15A, 16A, and the hook 14A may be longer than hook 13A. In a modification sloping shoulders are provided on one limb only and in a further modification, Fig. 9, the fastener is symmetrical about axis 43.
