Abstract

1,190,378. Making lock-nuts. FIRTH CLEVELAND FASTENINGS Ltd. 20 July, 1967 [31 Aug., 1966], No. 38906/66. Heading B3A. [Also in Division F2] A U-shaped fastener to be used in conjunction with a bolt for securing to a panel or the like is formed from a strip of metal such as bending punching out apertures 2, 3, 4 and then steel by tongue portions 6, 7 so that their opposed edges conform to the helix of the thread on the bolt with which the fastener is intended to be used. A bridge portion 9 is then arched out of the general plane of the strip and a portion 8 is bent to form a lip. Finally the strip is bent to form arms 10, 11 connected by a bight portion 12, the arm 10 being provided with the arched portion 9, tongue portions 6, 7 and lip 8 and the arm 11 being provided with the aperture 3 aligned with that defining the tongue portions 6, 7.
