Abstract

546,320. Locking nuts. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. June 4, 1941, No. 7068. Convention date, June 25, 1940. [Class 89 (i)] Nuts of the type in which the thread is formed in a barrel 2, Fig. 1, stamped from sheet metal 1 that forms a flange have the diameter reduced by pressing in the sides at 7 over a width'of about two turns to form a self-locking feature. In a modification the sides are pressed in at an intermediate point at 22, Fig. 9. The flange may be spot welded to the supporting means at 30. In either form the nut may be pressed in one side only.
