Abstract

748,280. Couplings; conductor clamps. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. March 24, 1954 [March 25, 1953], No. 8165/53. Classes 36 and 38 (1). Bus-bars, each comprising a pair of bars 14, 15 disposed parallel to each other and separated by a gap 18 corresponding to the thickness of the bars, are supported on insulating panels 11, 12 in a housing 13, Fig. 1, by clamps each comprising flanged plates 16, Fig. 3, clamped onto the bars by a bolt 17 passing through the plates, the gap 18 and the panel. Fig. 4 shows a connector for making connection to a bus-bar comprising a cable socket 37 having a laterally extending tang 35 which passes between the bars 14, 15, the latter being clamped onto the tang by a C-shaped clamp 40 one jaw of which carries a bolt 43 engaging a pressure plate 44. More than one clamp may be provided to clamp the tang 35. Such clamps 40 may be used to connect two interleaved bus-bars together as shown in Fig. 8, or to connect an L-shaped bar to a bus-bar (Fig. 7, not shown).
