Abstract

747,826. Gill frames. DOAGH FLAX SPINNING CO., Ltd. Oct. 14, 1953 [Oct. 28, 1952], No. 27039/52. Class 120 (1). Gill bars in a push-bar type of gill frame are controlled by a chain 2 driven in synchronism with the bars 1 and provided with teeth 10 that engage between the ends of alternate bars 1 throughout their upper reach to prevent relative displacement of the bars. A chain 2 may be employed at each side of the machine and the tension of each chain is adjustable. To provide easy access to the bars 1, the chains 2 may be swung upwardly clear of the bars. Means for adjusting the height of the chains 2 may also be arranged. In order to maintain correct, spacing of the bars 1 during their vertical run, sprocket-wheels 24 with teeth that engage between alternate bars 1 are mounted on a shaft 20 driven by a chain 23 tensioned by a wheel 25. It is stated that the tension wheel 25 causes a slight tendency for the sprocket wheels 24 to drag relative to the main driving sprockets 9 and for tnem to rotate slightly in tne direction opposite to the direction of drive when the drive is stopped.
