Abstract

747,784. Transistor amplifier stabilizing circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 14, 1954 [Jan. 17, 1953], No. 1119/54. Class 40 (6). The stabilizing resistor in the base-emitter circuit of a transistor is given a temperature coefficient of at least 1 per cent per degree centigrade and preferably 10 per cent. The resistor may be connected directly to the emitter in a grounded base circuit in series with the input signal, Fig. 1 (not shown), or the signal may be applied directly to the base, Fig. 2 (not shown), the emitter being grounded over the resistor. In a modification, Fig. 3, the emitter bias battery is omitted, the base being biased by current flow through the resistor 6 decoupled by capacitor 7. The resistors employed in the emitter circuit are made of alkaline earth titanates with a large positive coefficient. The resistor 6 is a ceramic resistor or thermistor containing ferric and titanium oxides with a high negative temperature coefficient.
