Abstract
746,631. Centrifugal separators. KONINKLIJKE NEDERLANDSCHE GISTEN SPIRITUSFABRIEK N.V. March 3, 1954 [March 6, 1953], No. 6215/54. Addition to 715,912. Class 23. [Also in Group XII] The salt content of steam is reduced by passing the steam through a divergent conduit into the smaller end of which finely divided water is injected, and by separating the resultant mixture in one or more cyclone separators, the length of the conduit being at least ten times the internal diameter of its smaller end. Steam is supplied to the conduit 5 by a pipe 4 and the finely divided water is introduced into the conduit by a nozzle 8. The larger end of the conduit is connected to a cyclone 12 from which water and steam are respectively discharged through a pipe 14 and an outlet 23. Steam from the outlet 23 passes through slots 16 to cyclones 17 which discharge steam to a common outlet 22. The water from the cyclones 17 passes to an annular jacket 18 which is provided with a discharge pipe (not shown).
