Abstract
774,406. Centrifugal separators. ORELLI, D., and BEAUQUESNE, R. June 10, 1954 [June 10, 1953; July 23, 1953; May 13, 1954], No. 17081/54. Class 23 A hydro-cyclone has means for providing a core transversely expansible about the longitudinal axis of the hydro-cyclone. As shown in Fig. 1 gas supplied by a pipe 7c forms a gaseous sheath about a rod 7. In the modification shown in Fig. 4 the gas supply branch of the pipe 7c is not shown. The solids separated in the hydrocyclone discharge into an -expansion chamber 23 having an outlet valve 10, a pipe 11 being provided to lead gas entrained in the solids to the pipe 7c which supplies gas to the sheath. The separated liquid with entrained gas is discharged from the hydro-cyclone by a pipe 6 connected to a pipe 13, gas passing through the arm 13a to the pipe 7c and liquid being discharged through the arm 13b. Any gas which may collect between the conical baffle 13c and pipe 13 is led to the pipe 7c by a branch 26. The vortex-finder 9 may be replaced by finders of different size. Auxiliary liquid may be supplied to the hydro-cyclone by one or more pipes 24. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 712,792 [Group IV(b)]
