746,599. X-ray apparatus. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. July 19, 1954 [July 17, 1953], No. 19935/53. Class 98 (1). In a frame structure having a carriage movable along it, two guide members extending along opposite sides of the frame are supported by mounting members secured to the frame and present convex surfaces for cooperation with wheels or the like mounted on the carriage and peripherally grooved for rolling engagement with the guide members on opposite sides of the groove, one or more of the mounting members for at least one of the guide members being adjustable so that the guide members may be located accurately parallel to each other, As shown, a frame is rotatable about its longitudinal axis by means of a boss 3 engaging a support shaft (not shown). Circular rods 4 are supported at their ends within the channel-sectioned side members 1 of the frame by mounting blocks 7. Each block 7 is located against the bottom of the channel by adjusting screws 8, and is secured in position by tightening screws 9 which pass with clearance through the sides of the channel and are threaded into the blocks. If necessary, the rods 4 are supported between their ends by similarly adjustable blocks 10. A carriage 6 carrying, e.g. an X-ray tube, has grooved wheels 5 engaging rods 4, so that when the rods are adjusted into parallelism the carriage moves smoothly along the rods however the frame is tilted. The wheels 5 may engage the rods on the outside of rods 4, instead of on the inside as shown.
