Abstract
932,196. Continuous casting-machines. CONCAST A.G. Aug. 28, 1961 [Sept. 24, 1960], No. 30909/61. Class 83 (1). A continuous casting machine comprises at least one pinch roll system with its driving device and adjusting devices mounted on a common frame forming a removable unit. In one embodiment, Figs. 4 and 5, the opposing rollers 9, 9a, 12, 12a are driven by spar gearing from a motor 4, the rollers 9, 9a being urged on to the casting 10 by resilient devices 17, 17a and the abutment rollers 12, 12a being fixed in position by devices 16, 16a. The rollers are cooled by internally circulating coolant, or by sprays 22, Fig. 7. In a modification, Fig. 11, the rollers are driven through worm gearing 29, 30. In another modification, Figs. 9 and 10, the rollers have cheeks confining the casting and adjustable by helical ramps or oppositelyhanded screw threads.
