Abstract

746,281. Fluid actuation of switches. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT 'CORPORATION. Nov. 30, 1953 [Nov. 29, 1952], No. 30299/52. Class 38(5) [Also in Group XXI] Une form of switch comprises contacts 7a, 7b, Fig. 2, carried respectively by the stem 13 of a piston 11 and a cylinder 9 in which the piston is movable against a spring 14 by gas pressure applied to the right hand end of the cylinder. The rate of movement of the piston is controlled by a needle valve 16. Another form of switch comprises contacts 47, S1, Fig. 4, mounted respectively on a bellows 39 and a casing 38, the bellows being closed against a spring 42 when gas is supplied through a pipe 34. The rate of movement is determined by a needle valve 40. A further form of switch S2; Fig. 5, comprises a bellows 48 open to atmosphere by pipes 49 and closed by surrounding gas - pressure.
