Abstract

1,107,855. Vacuum switches. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - G.m.b.H. 2 July, 1965, No. 28126/65. Heading H1N. A vacuum switch 1 is actuated by a push rod 10 which also serves as the moving contact of a series isolator (2). The rod 10 which is driven by a piston and cylinder assembly 5, 8 (Fig. 1, not shown) acts, through an insulating member 15, to close a vacuum switch contact coupled to a rod 20 against a spring 19. A further spring 21 provides contact pressure. To open the vacuum switch contact rod 10 is moved downwards; further downward movement with draws rod 10 from a fixed contact 17 and to a fixed terminal 2<SP>1</SP> to create an isolating gap. The switch is latched closed by a pawl (12) (Fig. 1, not shown) which is releasable by pneumatic device (14).
