784,373. - Fluid-blast switches. CALOREMAG ELEKTRIZITATS AKT.-GES. Nov. 22, 1955 [Nov. 25, 1954], No. 33424/55. Class 38(5). A fluid-blast switch has a main piston 11 movable in a main pump chamber 20 to force a blast of fluid between the switch contacts 5, 7 when they are opened and an auxiliary pumping device operable when the contacts are closed to pump fluid into the pump chamber to ensure the rapid refilling of the pump chamber. The auxiliary pumping device may comprise a piston 14 secured to the movable hollow contact rod 5 and movable in a cylinder 13 formed as a continuation of the main pump chamber. The piston 14 is provided with passages 15 and a disc valve 16 which closes under fluid pressure when the rod 5 and piston 14 are moved downwards during a closing operation. A transverse dividing wall 18 between the chamber 20 and the cylinder 13 has a disc valve 19 which closes when the contacts are opened. The main piston 11 is moved with lost motion when the contacts are opened or closed by a member 12 secured to the rod 5. Specification 735,934 is referred to.
