Abstract
487,391. Gas blast switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 11, 1936, No. 24820. Void. Convention date, Sept. 13, 1935. [Class 38 (v)] A gas-blast switch is connected in series with an isolating switch, both switches being arranged to open or close simultaneously. In the arrangement shown, 5, 6 are the fixed and movable contacts of the main switch, and the contact 6 is connected by sliding contacts 7 and a flexible lead 13 to the movable contactmember 9 of the isolating switch. Gas under pressure is led to the point of separation of the contacts 5, 6 through a tube 17 and it may also be led through tubes 18, 22 to the contacts of the isolating switch. The movable contacts 6, 9 are connected together for simultaneous operation by a pin-and-slot connection 15, 16. The switches may be opened by admitting pressure gas through a tube 27 to a cylinder 26 housing a piston 14 to which the contact 6 is connected. The various pipes are connected to a pressure gas container 25 by a valve 24 which may be actuated by hand or by a magnetic release.
