Abstract

746,018. Cables. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Oct. 8, 1954 [Oct. 8, 1953], No. 29082/54. Class 36. [Also in Group XI] A flexible cable incorporating an arrangement responsive to the temperature of an electric heater wire therein comprises a flexible insulating core 1 which may be of glass fibres, a helically applied heater wire 2, at least one signal wire 3 separated from the heater wire by a helically-applied thread or tape 5 of an organic insulating material, such as nylon, which becomes conductive when heated, and an outer insulating covering 4. In an alternative arrangement the wires 2, 3 may be wound sideby-side on the core 1, being separated by an insulating thread. The thread or tape 5 is then applied thereover with the opposite lay.
