Abstract

A plastic sheathing is extruded with a clearance around a conductor comprising a textile core on which one or more conductive strands are wrapped by bringing the core to a predetermined degree of humidity and extruding the sheath there around at such a temperature that the greater part of the moisture in the core is vaporized to produce a radially outward pressure capable of supporting the internal wall of the sheath during its setting. Two or more layers of insulation may be applied successively to the core.
