A sheet-folding machine comprising folding pockets is characterized in that at least one horizontal guide for the selectively detachable fixing of a folding pocket or a feed table is provided. As shown, sheets 60 on a table 46 are fed between a roller 28 and a resiliently mounted cylindrical stud 31 to rollers 13 and 14 which feed the sheets to buckle plates 79 which are horizontally disposed. When the leading edge of a sheet contacts an adjustable stop 86 the sheet is buckled and the fold passes between rollers 14 and 10 to further horizontally disposed buckle plates 87 and the twice folded sheet is fed between rollers 10 and 15 to indenting rollers 100, 101. Instead of indenting rollers, rollers performing other operations such as perforating may be employed. The sheets are then delivered to an endless conveyer 111 which is intermittently operated by means of a ratchet and pawl arrangement 107. A spring 119 is provided which bears on the conveyer surface. Instead of the table 46 a table 77 may be employed, the table 77 resting on a bracket 75 and being held in position by eccentrics 78. The buckle plates 79 and 87 are also held in position by eccentrics 81 and 90 respectively. If it is desired to indent the sheets without buckling, the plates 87 are removed and the table 77 is fixed in its place, the sheets being directly between rollers 10 and 15 to the rollers 100 and 101.
