Abstract
744,270. Measuring fluid pressure. THOMAS. G. B., and RUSTON & HORNSBY, Ltd. July 21, 1954 [July 22, 1953] No 20316/53.. Class 40(1) A fluid - pressure pick-off comprises a tube 11 surrounded by a further tube 16 so as to form a closed annular space between them connected to the bore of tube 11 by an opening 15 in the wall thereof. The inner tube is adapted to be series connected in the pipe line the fluid pressure in which is to be measured, e.g. by nipples 20, 21 at the ends of the outer tube which carries wound about the central thinwalled portion thereof a resistance straingauge 23 protected by a cover 22. The strain-sensitive resistor may be wound iriductively and a temperature compensating winding may be fitted on a part of the pick-off not subject to stress.
