Abstract
1488786 Measuring bearing shells MIBA GLEITLAGER AG 16 March 1976 [26 March 1975] 10429/76 Heading G1M It is known to insert a solid half-cylinder master bearing in a recessed gauge block and measure the distance its lip extends above the block and to compare this distance with the similar distance a bearing half shell to be checked extends above the block when substituted for the solid half. In the present method the solid half-cylinder is replaced by a hollow half-cylinder master 2 as in Fig. 2 and having the same elastic properties as the half shell to be tested. The hollow master half may be compared for circumferential dimension with a solid master half by placing each half successively on a block 10, Fig. 3 and wrapping a tape 11 around it, the circumferences or the difference in circumferences being read from a dial gauge 13 having its plunger attached to the tape and loaded by a weight 14.
