[Also in Groups V and XVII] A tray having internal stacking lugs 6 is formed by clamping the edge of a heated sheet 31 of thermoplastic material between a support 20 and a ring 24 and dishing the sheet by a former 14. Two sides of the former are apertured enabling horizontally reciprocating pressers 30 to form the lugs. A plate 27 supports the sheet during drawing and a bead 22 fixed to the support 20 shapes the tray rim. Parts 16 of the former hinge back to enable the completed article to be removed. The drawing operation may be assisted by vacuum applied to a casing 33. The ring former and parts 16 are pneumatically operated.
