Abstract
741,542. Showcards. FELDMAN, P., and FELDMAN, D. A., [trading as FELDMAN & LYLE]. March 20, 1952 [March 20, 1951], No. 6687/51. Class 3(2) A collapsible showcard comprises a real base member 13 and an apparent base member 10 hinged together at the front of the device, a display member 22 hingedly secured to the real base member and arranged to pass through a slot in the apparent base member and a collapsible support member 11 arranged at the rear of and between the real and apparent base members to hold them apart by acting independently of the display member, as a strut attached directly to each base member, the arrangement being such that when the support member is collapsed, the real base, apparent base and display members are substantially parallel and adjacent to one another, but when the support member is erected, the apparent base member is raised to an angle to the horizontal, and the display member projects substantially vertically upwards through the slot in the apparent base member. The apparent base member 10 is hinged to the real base member 13 by a tab 14 on the real base member. The support member 11 has a central horizontal score line 15 about which it can bend when the device is collapsed. The support member also has an extension (not shown) connected to it by a vertical score line which can be bent forwardly to a position between the real and apparent base members to lock the support member in its extended position. The extension is retained in this locking position by a tab which engages a slot in the real base member. In addition to the display member 22 additional display members such as 23 can be provided. The slots for the display members each have rearwardly directed slits so that the rear edge can be depressed slightly when the device is collapsed to allow the display members to be substantially parallel to the apparent base member. The strut may be extended above the apparent base member to form a background.
