Class 3(2) A display stand or like advertising device is formed from cardboard or like material and comprises a platform 4 to the rear and side edges of which respectively are hingedly secured a back sheet 1 and side wings 2, 3, such hinged members being adapted either to be folded to form a flat pile of sheets or to be extended to bring the back sheet and side wings into substantially vertical planes, a locking member 13 being horizontally secured to the device below and centrally of the platform whereby not only are the hinged members held in their respective positions but a support is provided for the platform member. This device is formed from a single blank which is bent about a horizontal score line 5 to provide the platform 4 and the back sheet 1 and about vertical score lines to provide the forwardly extending side wings 2, 3. The wings 2, 3 are stitched or stapled to downwardly extending flaps 19 provided at each end of the platform 4 and the platform has a downwardy extending front riser 8 which has a rearwardly extending foot strip 10. The locking member 13 is in the form of a tongue secured underneath the platform 10 and has two downwardly extending flaps which support the centre of the platform. Each flap has an upward projection 16 at its rear end and these engage behind the back sheet 1 and are held in position by a slot in a strip 17 which is secured to the rear of the back sheet. To collapse the stand the projections 16 are disengaged from the strip 17 and the foot strip 10 and riser 8 are brought on to the plane of the platform 4. The parts 4, 8 and 10 may then be folded upwardly about two score lines 12 which extend obliquely, one from each rear corner of the platform causing the wings to fold inwardly on top of the platform and back sheet.
