Abstract

740,394. Automatic voltage-control systems. RESEARCH CORPORATION. May 15, 1953 [May 15, 1952], No. 13676/53. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XL (a)] In a voltage-regulating system such as that described in Specification 706,929 for maintaining an optimum sparking rate in an electrostatic precipitator, the mechanical device for measuring the sparking rate (i.e. ratchet-operated switch) is replaced by a resistance/capacitance integrating circuit. Each spark fires a thyratron to discharge a capacitor which is charged from a constant voltage source, to produce constant voltage pulses, which are fed to an R.C. integrating circuit. The " integrated " output is measured by a contact-making microammeter which controls a reversible servomotor operating the voltage regulator.
