739,346. Opening and closing windows and ventilators. WOELM, E. Jan. 22, 1954 [June 8, 1953; Oct. 29, 1953], No. 2000/54. Classes 20 (3) and 137. In a remotely-actuated window or like operating device including a telescopic spindle 5, 6, the latter is slidingly mounted in a protective tubular casing 7, a portion 2 of which is formed with a bore 9 tangential to the spindle-operating nut or the like for the actuating screwthreaded cable 10 or toothed rack. The casing is secured to the stationary window &c. frame by a fixed inclined bracket 3 as in Fig. 1 or the common axis of the tubular casing and telescopic spindle may be adjustable as in Figs. 5 and 7. In the form shown in Fig. 5 the casing 2 is mounted by studs taking into bearings 24 on the stationary frame 1 whereby the casing as a whole can rotate. In the form shown in Fig. 7 the nut is formed in two parts-an annular member 27 having a spherical recess in which the second part 28 rotates. The connection between the two parts is by pins 29 on the ring engaging grooves in the part 28.
