Abstract

570,342. Vehicle window regulators. SMYE, A. Oct. 2, 1943, No. 16175. [Class 20 (iii)] A window regulator for vertically sliding vehicle or other sash comprises a flexible stainless steel or other tape connected by a bracket 24 to the middle of the bottom rail and guided by a channel 30 to a winding drum 13 so that positive movement in either direction may be given to the window. The guide 30 is tangentially connected to the drum casing at 33. The tape is connected to the drum by a clamp and screws 20 and is retained on the drum by the rim 32 of the casing. The guide has a channel recess to take the clamp 26 by which the sash bracket is secured to the tape. The device is attached to the door or like panel at 15, 3 in the well beneath the window opening. The drum 13 may be provided with a spiral spring counterbalancing the weight of the window. The drum may be actuated by an electric motor controlled by a reversing switch.
