861,627. Door stops. KOSTELNIK, F. Oct. 21, 1959, No. 35727/59. Class 65(1). Apparatus for damping the closing movement of a door 2 pivoted at 1 comprises a plunger 5 formed with a plurality of axially spaced annular grooves 12-1211 and housed in a cavity in either the door or its jamb, an apertured retaining plate 9 secured over the mouth of the cavity and through which the plunger extends, and a helical spring 4 which bears against a split ring 11 located in one of the grooves and urges the plunger out of the cavity. By moving the split ring from one groove to another the damping effect may be altered. The plunger has a removable end portion 51 provided with a roller 8 and is guided by projections 7 on the retaining plate which engage keyways 6 in the plunger.
