Abstract
572,189. Door-operating appliances. EXPRESS LIFT CO., Ltd., DIXIE, W. A., and KRUGER, S. Dec. 15, 1943, No. 21034. [Class 65 (i)] In a lift gate operating system, where the gates 10 are normally actuated by an electric motor 1, under emergency a gate may be forced open by hand causing the separation of two elements 4, 6, of the linkage, by the forcing of a ball catch out of a groove 22. The link 6 is pivoted at 7. The spring-pressure on the ball is adjustable. A stop collar 26 prevents a sleeve 13 over-running the groove 22, when the catch is re-engaged on closing the lift gate. Should the gate be opened during motion of the lift, an electric contact-making switch opens the safety circuit of the lift system to bring the lift to rest in the normal way.
