Abstract

275,629. National Pneumatic Co., (Assignees of Forman, P. R.). Aug. 3, 1926, [Convention date]. Operating doors electrically and pneumatically and by treadles.-In an automatic door-operating device in which the weight of a person passing through a doorway depresses a treadle and closes a switch so that an electric or pneumatic motor then opens and closes the door, the treadle plate is composed of a plurality of pivoted sections, the depression of any of these sections operating the switch. Depression of the treadle 63 causes a lever 65 on a shaft 66 to lift a spindle 67 against the action of a spring 68. This closes the contacts 73, 74, 75 and breaks the contacts 71, 72, 73 and causes a reversal of the current in the aramature circuit of the door motor 60, the doors then opening through the movement of a lever 61 connected to the spindle 53 on which the door 51 is mounted. The door 50 is hinged to the door 51 that is provided with rollers 56 that are slidable in guides 57. On the end of the door-opening movement the motor opens the switch 78, and closes the switch 77 ready for the closing movement. When the treadle is free to return to its normal position, the spring 68 moves the contact members on the spindle 67 to reverse the armature current and cause the doors to close. A pneumatic motor may be used instead of an electric motor. Fig. 8 shows how the sectioned treadle is mounted for operating the lever 45 that makes and breaks the switch contacts of the magnetic valve of the pneumaticmotor.
