Abstract

525,510. Electromagnetic switches. WHIPP & BOURNE, Ltd., and WHIPP, F. Feb. 23, 1939, No. 5978. [Class 38 (v)] A " no-volt circuit-breaker has two coils 23, 24, one coil 24 of low resistance serving to close the switch while the coil 23 of higher resistance is short-circuited, and the coil 23 serving to maintain the switch closed either by itself or, as shown, in conjunction with the coil 24. On moving a switch 12 into engagement with the negative line 11 a circuit is completed to the coil 24 causing closure of the main contacts 13 and auxiliary contacts 14 and the moving of a change-over switch 15. The switch 12 is now opened and the final result is a maintaining circuit through coils 23, 24 and economy resistances 21, 22. Should an overload occur, an overload switch closes contacts 20 which shortcircuit the coils 23, 24 and release the switch which moves into its original position. Specification 214,667, [Class 38 (v)], is referred to.
