Abstract
392,255. Actuation of switches. BARR & STROUD, Ltd. and FRENCH, J. W., Caxton Street, Anniesland, Glasgow. Dec. 9, 1931, No. 34119. [Class 38 (v).] A control switch for use in distant control systems comprises a contact 39 adapted to close the circuit of one or other coil 40, 41 and operated by a pivoted arm 37 having a pin 36 engaging a slot 35 in a rotatable ring 34. When the ring 34 is rotated clockwise, the pin 36 is driven downwardly by the slot 35 and bears on the inside of the ring and the circuit of the coil 41 is closed. Rotation of the ring in the opposite direction moves the pin upwardly so that it rides on the outside of the ring and effects closure of the circuit of coil 40. In modified forms the arm 37 carries a pair of contact arms which may normally complete the circuits of a pair of coils and be operated to open one or other of the circuits or co-operate with three fixed contacts first to switch in a resistance with one or other of the coils and then short-circuit the resistance according to the amount of movement of the ring 34. Furthermore, a pair of contact arms may control the individual or simultaneous excitation of the control coils.
