Abstract

[Class 40 (iv).] In a selecting switch in which a quick "make" " or " break " is produced between two spring contacts 4, 5 at a predetermined point i n t h e path of a cam 3 on a rotary disc 2 corresponding to a predetermined position of the wiper, the springs 4, 5 have projecting portions 7, 8 which are adapted to slip in turn off the cam as it moves along. In the form shown, the springs 4, 5 tend to engage each other and movement of the cam 3 from the position shown in Fig. 1 first causes both springs to move together away from the centre ; then, when the cam reaches a position 9, the spring 5 is released and the circuit opened, and a little later when the cam reaches a position 10 the spring 4 is also released and circuit is made again. The circuit then remains closed for the rest of the revolution. The normal position of the cam 3 is the position 9 in which the contacts are separated.
