Abstract
739,197. Protective cut-out arrangements. WALTERS, A., [Representative of WALTERS, A.]. May 5, 1964 [May 12, 1953], No. 13203/53. Class 38 (5). A condenser a is arranged in parallel with spring contacts c which are held apart by an insulator d which will collapse when exposed to excessive heat. The device is intended for connection across a neon tube so that if the tube develops a fault, the voltage across the condenser causes a spark between the contacts c which generates sufficient heat to melt the insulator, thus enabling the contacts c to close and short the faulty tube. The contacts may comprise coil springs mounted on the condenser as shown, or spring blades, or may be carried on spring-loaded levers. The insulator may be of wax or polythene.
