Abstract

737,908. Non-return valves. TRESCO, Inc., and STERNE & CO., Ltd., L. March 12, 1954 [March 12, 1953], No. 6901/53. Class 135. A non-return valve for use with air compressors &c. comprises a flexible leaf obturator 4 which co-operates with one or more ports 3 and is fixed to the seating member at a point remote from the ports, a stop plate 6 to limit the opening movement of the obturator, and a spring plate 5 interposed between, and spaced from, the obturator and the stop plate. The various plates are crescent-shaped and are secured to the seating member by set-screws 7 at the ends of the horns of the plates. A spacing member 9 which folds over the stop plate and has its ends interposed between the ends of the obturator and spring plates is provided with tongues 10 engageable with flats on the screws 7 to prevent accidental turning of the latter. Plate 6 is ribbed at 8 to increase its rigidity. Plate 5 may be laminated. The valve shown constitutes a discharge valve, and the underside of the seating plate may carry a flexible leaf inlet valve co-operating with ports 2.
