Abstract

A bearing alloy comprises Mg 0.05-2.4 per cent, Cd 0.05-5 per cent, Si 0.3-11 per cent, Ni 0.1-4 per cent, balance Al apart from incidental impurities, e.g. Fe up to 0.5 per cent. The alloy may be made by melting the ingredients at a temperature not exceeding 1400 DEG F., casting and heating at 900-950 DEG F. for 12-15 hours, followed by cooling; it may then be rolled and reheated at 350-400 DEG F. for 5-10 hours and cooled.
