Abstract
737,042. Joints for ducting. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. June 28, 1954 [June 29, 1953], No. 17928/53. Class 99 (1). Means for joining lengths of flexible ducting, e.g. of rubberized fabric, polyvinyl-chloridecoated hessian, or polyvinyl-chloride sheeting, comprises a strip of woven material cut on the bias and optionally coated with a polymeric material and fixed by sewing or other means around a ring of fire-resisting, deformable but hard polymeric material, the edges of the material being left free for securing to the end of a length of ducting. The ring may be square or round in cross-section and hollow, and be of polyvinyl-chloride, and the material may be a fabric coated with polyvinyl-chloride. The joint may be of the kind wherein the ring at the end of one length of ducting is distorted by hand pressure to oval shape, passed through the ring at the end of an adjacent length of ducting, and then allowed to expand to circular form.
