Abstract
736,896. Rolling. SANDVIKENS JERNVERKS AKTIEBOLAG. April 2, 1953 [April 2, 1952], No. 9231/53. Class 83 (4). Work guides.-A guide for strip 14 in a rolling mill comprises a pair of guide plates 10 pivoted on members 17, 21 which are adjustable towards and away from one another according to the width of the work, the guide plates 10 then being clamped in position on a supporting bed 30. The members 17, 21 are slidable on a cross member 12 of the bed 30 and simultaneously adjustable in position by a handwheel 15 through a screwed rod 16, racks 18, 20 and a pinion 19. The guide plates 10 are clamped in the required position on the bed 30 through a cross bar 11 by hydraulic or pneumatic rams 25. For releasing the guide plates 10 the cross-bar is lifted by rams 26 through connecting rods 29, which are pivoted to the rams 26 so that on release the bar 11 may be swung clear to permit removal of the plates 10 from their pivots. In a modification (not shown) the rams may be double acting for clamping and releasing the bar 11.
