735,817. Cylinder paper-making machines. STEVENS, S. S. July 17, 1953, No. 19903/53. Class 96. Pulp from a supply pipe 15 flows along branch pipes 15a, 16 to a duct 24 opening on to the surface of a cylinder mould 1 of a papermaking machine; and on a rod 2 at the upper extremity of the supply zone are links 4 with turn-buckle adjustment 5, which support the shaft of the cylinder mould which may be adjusted, e.g. while the machine is running, about the rod 2 as a pivot, using links and worm gearing 8, 11 as illustrated, or alternatively hydraulic or pneumatic pistons. A " throat plate " of the pulp supply duct 24 is pivoted at 21, so that such adjustment widens or narrows the duct 24 and thus controls the flow of pulp. Side plates of the supply duct are pressed in place by spring action.
