Abstract
298,653. Kolitsch, A. Oct. 13, 1927, [Convention date]. Pulp, regulating flow and consistency of; thickness of paper, regulating. - The variation of " vacuum in the suction devices of a paper machine owing to variation in the thickness of the paper being made is used to regulate automatically the supply of pulp stock to the flow box and to the wire cloth. In the arrangement described, the pulp is supplied to the flow box through an outlet 51 adjustable by a hand wheel 50 and through an outlet 53 the gate 6 of which is set to provide a normal flow for a particular weight of paper and which is raised and lowered as the result of variation of vacuum in a cylinder 7 which is connected by a pipe 8 to the suction devices. A plunger 66 is held between two springs 9, 90 and is connected by a rod 65 to a lever 62 pivoted at 63 and connected by an adjustable swivel 61 on a rod 60 to the gate 6. A rod 73 secured to the upper cap 70 passes through the plunger 66 and into the rod 65 and acts as a guide.
