Abstract

798,270. Cylinder paper-making machines. BELOIT IRON WORKS. April 13, 1956, No. 11352/56. Class 96. Pulp is fed to a wire-cloth 11 as it passes over a suction zone 12a-12b of a cylinder mould 12 of a multi-cylinder paper-making machine, from oppositely-flowing streams 29, 30 which supply a converging conduit 26c containing rectifier rolls 31 and 32, the entire flow-box 26 being movable on tracks 41 for rollers 42, 43, to facilitate wire-changing, for which purpose also, a return roll 14 and/or a couch roll 13 are mounted on pivoted arms and a roll 65 above a pick-up felt 64 is movable horizontally and vertically so that a frame and spreader poles a, b, c may be used for inserting the new wire. The return roll 14 is supported from an arm 73 which is moved by a spur pinion and gear quadrant 81, 82 and the couch roll 13 is supported on an arm 49 pivoted at 48 and held up by a detachable chain 60 passing over a pulley 61 and wound up by a crank 63 &c. The cylinder mould is cantilever supported during wirechanging, a column 21 being removable.
