[Also in Groups I, VI and XXXIV] In a mixing and cutting machine for household use and similar small scale operation wherein a cup 2 is screwed into a stand 1 which can be fixed to a motor housing having a vertical shaft, the mixing or knife shaft 4 is carried by a bottom member which is loosely inserted into the stand and which includes a lubricant supply container in communication with the shaft. The bottom member comprises a circular metal plate 5 having a peripheral packing ring 6 which engages and seals the lower end of the cup 2 when it is screwed into the stand 1, and is formed with a recess 5<SP>1</SP> in which a metal ring 7 is inserted from below, to provide at 7<SP>1</SP> an annular surface of diameter smaller than the diameter of the packing ring 6, on which the bottom member rests upon the stand 1. The recess 5<SP>1</SP> and the ring 7 form a space 9 adapted to contain a supply of lubricant for the shaft 4, for example in the form of cotton wool impregnated with oil or fat. Bearing bodies 11 consisting of sintered metal are accommodated in a casing 10 with a ring of felt 12 interposed between them, adjacent apertures 13 in the casing 10 for the passage of lubricant from the space 9. When the cup 2 is being screwed into the stand the bottom member turns with the cup so that the packing 6 is stressed only in an axial direction, and when the cup 2- is fully screwed into the stand 1 a gap 8 is left between the packing 6 and stand 1.
