Abstract
735,649. Feeding dough. PELKMAN BROS., Ltd. Feb. 1, 1954 [Oct. 31, 1952], No. 27411/52. Class 78 (1). [Also in Group VI] In a Y flap feed for bakery installations, the greater part of the movement of the flap is unrestrained but, near its limiting positions, means become effective to reduce its momentum and prevent rebounding. Dough pieces are fed from the handing machine to the Y flap feed 10 which consists of a sheet metal Y flap 20 so pivoted in a shoot 12 that a dough piece 24 passing down the shoot 12 to the left of flap 20 swings it round and causes the next dough piece to pass down to the right and swing the flap back. On emerging from the shoot, the dough pieces are received by a trap having a partition 28 and a pair of flaps 30 which open when two dough pieces rest side by side in the trap. Opening of flaps 30 then delivers the two dough pieces to one of a series of pairs of pockets 34a, 34b mounted on the conveyer of the first prover. Flap 20 is supported on a pivot pin 22 by means of a sleeve 38, closed at one end 40, which leaves a clearance 42 for a metal plate 44 pivoted on pin 22. A pin 48 passes through a slot 46 in plate 44 and through the base 41 of the shoot 12 and a spring 50 encircling pin 48 holds a washer 51 against plate 44 so as to retard the movement of plate 44 relative to the base 41. Stop pins 52, 54, secured on plate 44 near the ends of slot 46, engage the edge 58 of a plate 56, fixed within flap 20, when the flap is near its extreme positions and so plate 44 is moved against the action of spring 50 to reduce its momentum.
