Abstract

735,607. Swaging sawteeth. MYNARD, S. A. July 1, 1954 [Sept. 4, 1953], No. 24503/53. Class 145. A sawtooth swaging machine has an anvil 10 and rotatable swaging die 15 carried by a block 5 mounted in a body 1 and the saw blade is clamped between the end of a fixed screw 6 and the hardened lip 9 of a screw 7 rotatable by a handle 8, the screw 6 being adjustable to centralize saw blades of different thicknesses with respect to the anvil and its head 6a being wedged in adjusted position by a locking screw 11 having an eccentric head 12, or a portion of its head eccentric. The anvil is axially adjustable in the block 5 by means of a set-screw 13 and locking screw 14 and its angular position can be altered by turning and locking the block in the body, the setting being indicated by a scale. The die 15 is rotated by a handle 18 on a boss 17 connected to the die by a retaining screw 18a and an extension 16 of the boss is rotatable in the block 5, in which it is retained by a spring-loaded ball 19 engaging a groove 20 ; a fixed bush 21 journals the other side of the die and the movement of the handle 18 is limited by an L-shaped rod 28 of which the longer limb is adjustable in a boss 29. The sides of the saw blade bear against rollers 4 and the teeth engage a rest 23 adjustable against the pressure of a spring 27 by a nut 26 on a screwed spindle 24.
