Abstract

[Class 83 (iii)] [See also Group XXIII] A frame 13 carrying a file or other sharpening tool 16 is reciprocable and turnable in a guide sleeve 12 which is attached by a fork 11 and bolt 9 to the flattened head of a bolt 6. The bolt 6 is secured by a nut 8 to a slit plate 2 which is clamped to the saw 1 by a screw 4. By adjustment about the bolts 6, 9 the guide sleeve 12 may be given any desired inclination relatively to the saw teeth. When all the leading edges of one set of identically bevelled teeth have been sharpened, the bolt 6 is reversed in the plate 2 and the frame 13 turned through 180‹ so as to allow the other set of identically bevelled leading edges to be sharpened. The backs of the teeth are then sharpened, one set of teeth being sharpened with the plate 2 in the position shown and the other set with the plate turned through 180‹. The frame 13 consists of a round rod sliding in the sleeve 12 bearing a fixed arm 15 and an adjustable arm 14 carrying the file 16. The file handle 17 fits in the arm 15 and the other end of the file is secured to a fork 19 rotatably carried by the arm 14. The plate 2 may be formed with a cross-piece 3 against which the saw abuts.
