Abstract
435,789. Circular - saw machines. WHITE, T., and LISTER, S., Laighpark Works, Paisley. Jan. 21, 1935, No. 1998. [Classes 145 (i) and 145 (ii)] In a cross cut circular-saw machine in which the saw or other tool, such as a cutterblock substituted for the saw for grooving, is carried in a head movable rectilinearly and also rotatable about a horizontal axis to vary the angle at which the tool attacks the work, the axis of rotational adjustment lies in, or approximately in, the plane of the tool and is preferably located at or about the lower cutting edge of the same: As shown, a pillar a, Fig. 2, carries a rotatable column b which can be vertically adjusted ; a slide c is mounted to reciprocate on the column b, being provided with a handle d ; the return motion may be effected by a spring, and a compressed air buffer may be provided to bring the slide c to rest. The head e carrying the tool and its electric driving motor is mounted on the front end of the slide c being adjustable by a toothed quadrant h on the slide and a pinion i on the head, or vice versa. Worm or other suitable gearing may be used. A pin l locates the head with the tool spindle horizontal; a clamp handle k serves to secure the head in adjusted position.
